Marksman Vijay Kumar scored 30 in the final to win historic silver, second medal for India in London, in the men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event at Royal Artillery Barracks on Friday. After the disappointment of Joydeep Karmakar, who finished fourth in the 50m rifle prone, missing out on a bronze medal earlier in the day, Vijay lifted the team’s spirit by winning fourth Olympic shooting medal for India. The Gold medal was won by Leuris Pupo of Cuba and bronze medal by Ding Feng of China. The Indian finished four points behind the leader to bag the silver medal. The Army man competed with five shooters for the silver lining. Pre-Games medal favourite Ronjan Sodhi had on Thursday failed to qualify for the double trap event.
