Hyderabad : The state government has cautioned students against taking admissions into professional courses that are being offered by universities and institutions belonging to other states in Andhra Pradesh.
With the new academic year beginning, several universities and institutions from other states have issued notifications seeking applications from students for an admission into professional courses such as BE, B.Tech, MBA, MCA and B.Ed.
The government said the degrees awarded by such institutes will not be valid and people holding such degrees will not be considered eligible to appear for various recruitment exams conducted by the government. Nor will they be considered for promotions.
Several universities such as the Sikkim Manipal University, Kuvempu University, IASE Deemed University, Guru Jambeshwar University, Rajasthan Vidyapeet, Periyar University, Bharathiar University, Annamalai University and the Madurai Kamaraj University have issued admission notifications in the state.
While some universities have established study centres, others are calling them “learning centres” and “e-learning centres”. According to a circular issued by the department of higher education, “It came to the notice of the government that several universities and institutions of other states have issued notifications in Andhra Pradesh for admissions into professional courses. It was found that these universities lack the stipulated approvals from all three agencies namely the AICTE, the DEC and the UGC to run these courses outside their territorial jurisdiction.”
The circular further read: “It came to the notice of the government that some students and government employees are accepting admissions into these courses to obtain eligibility qualifications for recruitment exams and promotions. It is informed that the certificates awarded to students by these universities will not be considered for promotions and recruitment exams.”
